Happy Birthday Mami!

We had the chance yesterday to have a big family party for my grandmother's 80th birthday!!!!! We both share the same birthday, Aug. 31, but yesterday was all about Mami! A lot of relatives came in for the party, and it seemed like she really enjoyed spending time with everyone. (Although my mother said she was in a panic a few hours before the party because she was worried about everyone looking at her.) :)

The funniest part was that a Mariachi band came in and played for her and they had her sit and listen for the entire time they were there. They kept playing song after song, and she finally said to someone, "I guess they're just going to keep playing until I pass away." Awww...it did seem like they were playing forever.

Now the saddest part was when we watched a DVD slideshow of pictures from her life until this point. As soon as the first picture showed up and it was of her and my grandfather, she immediately started crying. :( It made me sad to think that here are all of these photos of her life, a majority with my grandfather and her immediate family, and now here she is having this celebration without so many of them by her side. I know she missed having them there, but I hope she was able to see how many of us love her.

Fun Time Fishing

These pictures were just too cute not to share. These are from Cameron's first fishing trip. He was really excited that he caught 4 fish, although Val said he had a REALLY hard time waiting for the fish to bite. Surprise, Surprise. He went about a month ago, but since we've been back to work, I have been too overwhelmed to even think about posting them! :) Ah, the joys of working. :(

Biggest Fan Ever!

So when Michael Jackson passed away this summer, he managed to captivate the attention of one special little boy. Who is this little boy I speak of? Cameron of course! :)
For some reason he has seriously become obsessed with Michael Jackson! Every time we leave the house he has to know if his CD is in the car, and then we have to listen to the same songs over and over and over and over!!!!!! "Beat It" and "PYT" used to be songs I liked and now I have listened to them so many times they make me nauseous! To add to it, he will sing "Beat It" everywhere we go, i.e. the bathroom at church or at the pool, while we are shopping at the mall, etc. ANYWHERE! He has also stated that he wants to be Michael Jackson for Halloween...hopefully that will change before Oct.! Or else I better start searching for a fancy glove for him to wear and highwater pants.
The other day though he had me cracking up...I came home and he was singing, "I got a nana." He kept singing this to me, and I asked him if he wanted a banana (which I thought would be odd, since he doesn't even eat bananas.) He kept getting so mad, because that was NOT was he was trying to say. Finally I asked where he heard this from, and he said, "Michael Jackson said it." Ohhhhh......it finally made sense, so I asked him, "Cameron, are you singing "Dirty Diana"?" He was like "Yeah Mommy...that's what Michael Jackson says." I guess the banana part was his interpretation of the song. Oh goodness. :)
