Happy Birthday Mami!

We had the chance yesterday to have a big family party for my grandmother's 80th birthday!!!!! We both share the same birthday, Aug. 31, but yesterday was all about Mami! A lot of relatives came in for the party, and it seemed like she really enjoyed spending time with everyone. (Although my mother said she was in a panic a few hours before the party because she was worried about everyone looking at her.) :)

The funniest part was that a Mariachi band came in and played for her and they had her sit and listen for the entire time they were there. They kept playing song after song, and she finally said to someone, "I guess they're just going to keep playing until I pass away." Awww...it did seem like they were playing forever.

Now the saddest part was when we watched a DVD slideshow of pictures from her life until this point. As soon as the first picture showed up and it was of her and my grandfather, she immediately started crying. :( It made me sad to think that here are all of these photos of her life, a majority with my grandfather and her immediate family, and now here she is having this celebration without so many of them by her side. I know she missed having them there, but I hope she was able to see how many of us love her.
